Take a screenshot, make a video recording, and then upload either of them to the web. That is, in a nutshell, the functionality you can expect to get from the free application for Windows-powered machines, Grabilla. So if you need a user friendly screen capture tool for Windows, you’re well advised to go get Grabilla.

Seeing that it is about 6MB in size, getting the Grabilla installer off the web and onto your machine will only take a moment. Once you have the installer, go ahead and run it – you will then be presented with a setup wizard that will guide you through the installation process. There’s nothing complicated about it. In very little time and without putting much effort into it, you will be done.

When you launch Grabilla you will be presented with a window that allows you to select the area you want to capture, enable Video Mode, choose to capture the entire screen, choose to capture a specific window, and access the Settings menu. From the Settings menu you can play with the application’s Default and Alternative Action.

The default settings for the Default Action are: upload and open in web browser; copy webpage URLs to the clipboard.
And the default settings for the Alternative Action are: open with default viewer, copy Bitmap images to the clipboard. To enable Alternative Action you must press the Alt key when taking a screenshot. And speaking about keys, it must be mentioned that you can run Grabilla with the Ctrl + Shift + G hotkey. You will be invited to select the hotkey for running Grabilla during the aforementioned setup process.

Here is what you can expect to get from Grabilla, from a functionality point of view: capture full screen, capture a specific window, capture a certain region on the screen, capture images (screenshots) or capture videos, open captured images with the default viewer, upload captured images to the web, copy the uploaded image’s URL to the clipboard, save captured images locally. Seeing that Grabilla is free software, you have all the time in the world to explore and play with all its features.

Grabilla provides a simple and efficient means of capturing what’s on your desktop, uploading the capture to the web, and then sharing the link to the uploaded capture with others.

Pros

You will have Grabilla up and running on your machine in no time at all. There’s nothing complicated about the interface. Hotkeys are supported. Capture images and videos with the application. Upload captured images to the web. Paste the URL to the captured image into any application you want. Grabilla is a free application.

Cons

None that I could think of.
